Dave's ESL Cafe is a website run by the one and only Dave Sperling A popular feature of the site are the job discussion forums. Registering for these forums is a long process, involving sending Dave Sperling an email explaining why you want to join. Although considered an invasion of privacy by many, worried about the large amount of personal information requested, this is - apparently - just a rubber stamp formality.

Dave's ESL Cafe is a professional site with many job advertisements which means that certain things aren't allowed, such as job discussion. Some people consider the moderator policies to be heavy-handed and have fled to other places, or have been banned, including former moderators. Many former users now frequent David's ELT World Forums.
